The Water Tower & Park Preservation Society’s Master Renovation Plan includes the planting of new, more varied trees and removal of damaged, dilapidated and hazardous trees.  After a detailed analysis and several open forums to gather public input, certified arborists and the St. Louis Urban Forester identified a total of 93 of the park’s 304 trees that need to be removed for public safety reasons and to allow for plantings of new, healthier trees. The Forestry Division of the Missouri Department of Conservation will manage the tree planting and removal over the course of the next 3 – 5 years.
